HAPPY NEW YEAR, RABBLE!

By GUS ( the Theatre Cat)

Hello everyone,

I know that you are all wondering what I have been doing at Brunswick Actors’ Theatre since you last saw me sleeping under the Christmas tree during “Twas the Night Before Christmas” starring all those fabulous kids (and kids at heart).

Well, let me tell you, it has been nonstop around here. Between the Jingle Bell Market in December, getting ready for “Everybody Loves Opal” and the Golden Isles Fiber Arts Guild Show, I can barely get any sleep! Mom (Lynda Dalton-Gallagher) tells me that I have to participate in this new play. Shirley Williams, who is playing the part of Opal, thinks that we are going to get along great. Hmmm, I don’t know about that. This play is going to interfere with my napping schedule and when I don’t get my required 23½ hours of sleep every day, I get cranky!

I do hope that everyone comes out to see me for my acting debut. Don’t forget about all the fabulous desserts and coffees provided by Daddy Cates. Oh, and the Cookies by Sandy. Don’t get me started on the cookies. Between the cookies and Daddy Cate's Neiman Marcus Bars I have put on a good 2 pounds. Some people have even started calling me some unflattering names such as -- Sir FedWell. Just what are you implying? I still have my catly physique! I can still lick all the places on my body. Let’s see YOU do that, human.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes, the play. This is the first play of the year, so if you haven’t already, now is the time to purchase your Patron Pass. You get all 6 shows for $100.00. That is a savings of $50.00. In other words, 2 free plays! And did you know that Christina will reserve your favorite seat for you? If you call ahead of course. Her ESP does not work as well as mine. AND your name will be entered into a drawing to win a Lanny Brewster original oil painting! Drawing will be OPENING NIGHT for "... Opal", February 7th. You do not have to be present to win but you do have to purchase your Patron Pass before or on January 26. You can even purchase them online!

If you haven’t heard about what else is happening at BAT this year, let me tell you. BAT, hmmm, that makes me hungry… Anyway, during December, Marilyn Monroe (Samantha Chambliss) came to the theatre and she brought 2 Elvis tribute artists with her (Michael Chambliss and Travis Powell). That’s right, not 1, but 2. And everybody had such a good time, I hear that Johnny Cash is coming March 26th. I am going to reserve a seat for me right up front. I don’t want to miss anything! And you don’t have to miss anything either. Tickets are on sale now at www.artdowntown.net.

I need to go study my lines, meow meow meow meow. I think I have them down, but I might want to improvise some during the 3rd act and I need to be ready! Hope to see you all in February.

Happy New Year!

GUS
